Man United’s board growing increasingly concerned by Erik ten Hag with three replacements previously discussed
Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag is coming under increasing pressure at Old Trafford after another wayward start to the season.
The Dutch coach has remained resolute to the media after another disappointing performance in midweek saw them draw with FC Twente.
Ten Hag won the FA Cup last season but after being backed in the summer, United have had an inconsistent start to the season and already look out of the title race.
And now, TBR Football understands that Manchester United’s hierarchy are growing increasingly concerned by their performances so far this season.

Manchester United considering replacements as pressure on Erik ten Hag grows
United backed Erik Ten Hag in the summer and bolstered his squad with a number of high-profile signings including the likes of Matthijs de Ligt, Manuel Ugarte, Leny Yoro and Joshua Zirkzee.
Ten Hag was handed the reprieve after winning the FA Cup final but the decision took sometime as they concluded an end of season review.
The decision was also taken to extend Ten Hag’s contract, but TBR Football is told that whilst handed a new deal, the club were firm with the Dutchman that improvement was required going into the new season.
Ten Hag was fully aware that United had been doing their due diligence on potential options over the summer including the likes of Thomas Tuchel and Graham Potter.
Another option that TBR Football can confirm was discussed is Gareth Southgate, and since then he is now a free agent after leaving his England.
Gareth Southgate still being considered by Man United
Southgate is a close confidant of Sir Dave Brailsford, Sir Jim Ratcliffe’s right-hand man and now board member at Old Trafford, whilst he also a strong relationship with sporting director Dan Ashworth – who is a huge admirer of the former Middlesbrough defender.
TBR Football has been told by sources with knowledge of the situation that if United do make a change, then Southgate would almost certainly be the leading candidate.
Whilst no talks have taken place with any possible successor to replace Ten Hag, TBR Football is told that the he is aware that the pressure coming down from the club’s hierarchy is genuine.
Southgate left the England job in the summer after leading the Three Lions to the Euros final before Spain beat them 2-1.
