United continue Mainoo and Amad talks
United sources have insisted to TBR Football that the future of Ten Hag will not impact on the ongoing contract talks with Mainoo and Amad.
TBR Football understands that talks have been progressing with both camps since the summer over their extensions, and that despite the club’s hierarchy considering the future of Ten Hag – that will not impact on their situations as both want to remain at Old Trafford.
United sporting director Dan Ashworth, who will be the man with the final say on Ten Hag, has already made positive inroads into the new deals.
United ready to hand out major pay hikes
England international Mainoo is due to receive a substantial pay rise after establishing himself for club and country since his last contract which he signed in the summer of 2022.
Mainoo’s current deal is due to expire in 2026, but the extension will see him commit until beyond 20230.
Likewise, Amad is being presented with a new long-term deal and his situation is somewhat more pressing as his deal expires at the end of the season – although United have an option on him.
TBR Football is told that United have informed his people that they will take that up, if terms are not finalised by Christmas, but the expectation is that he will put pen-to-paper before then.
