Report: Club will sell ‘superb’ player to Tottenham or Nottingham Forest for £20m

Manchester United have decided to sell midfielder James Garner, with both Tottenham and Nottingham Forest keen on signing the youngster.

Garner enjoyed a superb season last time out as he helped Forest win promotion back to the Premier League via the Championship playoffs. However, the Reds have – so far anyway – failed to bring Garner back to the City Ground despite holding a big interest.

However, things could now change, with reporting that United are now looking to sell Garner for as much as £20m, with both Tottenham and Forest keen on the midfielder.

Dubbed a ‘superb‘ player for his performances with Forest last season, Garner was expected to be given a chance at Old Trafford this season. But the claims the Red Devils are looking to sell him in order to fund their move for Juventus misfit, Adrien Rabiot.

Forest’s interest in Garner is an obvious link. But the mention of Tottenham is something new and it could be that Spurs are looking to add yet more young talent to the ranks. Spurs already signed Djed Spence this summer, while Ryan Sessegnon is also being given his chance by Antonio Conte.

TBR’s View: Garner Can Prove United Wrong

Manchester United are a club in complete turmoil right now and the decision to sell Garner is just another in a long line of bizarre takes coming from the club.

The midfield this weekend was desperately poor and there was a feeling among some fans that Garner might be able to do better than the likes of Fred and McTominay. So for United to now be considering selling Garner to make room for the expensive Rabiot, is just odd.

Of course, this is good news for Tottenham, and especially Forest, who’ll fancy their chances here. For Garner, it’s a chance for him to show United what they’ll be missing.
