Man United could make move for £68m Bayern Munich star if Erik ten Hag doesn’t get sacked
Manchester United have Bayern Munich defender Matthijs de Ligt on their summer transfer shortlist and could make a move to sign him – if Erik ten Hag is still the manager.
Sir Jim Ratcliffe has finally arrived, and we’re sure he has big plans for the future. He’d love nothing more than to take Manchester United back to the top, but to do so, they’ll need world-class players. De Ligt is right up there with the best.

Manchester United have Matthijs De Ligt on their wish list
Manchester United have had a really poor season, haven’t they?
The Red Devils have dropped points in 11 of their first 21 Premier League games and have already been knocked out of the Champions League.
There’s a lot of work to be done with their squad, and it won’t surprise us if Sir Jim Ratcliffe and his team decide to start with the defence.
Sky Sports Germany journalist Florian Plettenberg has revealed now that Bayern Munich star Matthijs De Ligt is on Manchester United’s summer transfer shortlist, and a move could be made – if Erik ten Hag isn’t shown the door by then.
The £68 million () Dutch defender is apparently not completely happy in Germany, and a transfer in the summer cannot be ruled out – be it to Manchester United or any other club.
Plettenberg : “Matthijs de Ligt: Due to his character and attitude, he is very popular in the team and the club! However, the 24 y/o is not 100% satisfied.
“Not a regular starter under Tuchel when everyone is fit, and Bayern is pursuing Araujo! A winter transfer is not on the table. A summer move is not ruled out (contract until 2027)
“If Ten Hag remains the coach, De Ligt and Man Utd could become a hot topic in summer! He’s on the list!”
Ten Hag may not last till the summer
Florian Plettenberg says Matthijs De Ligt to Manchester United ‘could become a hot topic’ in the summer if Erik ten Hag isn’t sacked as the manager by then.
That is really interesting as there’s a very high chance that the 53-year-old could be shown the door much earlier.
Manchester United’s performances have been really poor this season. Yes, they’ve had injuries, but their style of play and lack of clear identity is a big concern.
The draw against Tottenham on Sunday was a decent result, but Manchester United’s performance was really, really poor, and this cannot continue for much longer.
If things don’t improve in the next few months, INEOS will likely decide to sack Ten Hag and bring in their own manager to take the club forward.
