Man United are interested in signing ‘world class’ Barcelona player
Manchester United have endured a pretty torrid start to the new Premier League season, though, they did return to winning ways on the weekend.
Man United defeated Brentford 2-1 on the weekend to ease the pressure off manager Erik ten Hag, whose future still remains far from secure.
The Red Devils are currently languishing in the bottom half of the table having taken just 11 points from a possible 24.

So evidently, there’s plenty of room for improvement and with that said, it’s just come to light that United are eying a world class defender on the continent.

Manchester United interested in Ronald Araujo
According to , Manchester United are showing an interest in Barcelona centre-back Ronald Araujo.
It’s understood United are prepared to make a move for Araujo if his contract talks with Barca continue to stall.
The Uruguay international is entering the final 18 months of his deal, so the vultures are starting to circle, hoping to land his signature for a discounted fee.
Premier League rivals Chelsea are also showing an interest in the 25-year-old, who has been labelled ‘world class’ per .
Ronald Araujo compared to Leny Yoro and Lisandro Martinez
If Man United were to land Araujo’s signature, he’d likely be competing against Lisandro Martinez and Leny Yoro – when back fit – for a place in ten Hag’s starting 11.
Here are how their statistics compare.
Stats per 90 | Ronald Araujo | Lisandro Martinez | Leny Yoro |
Tackles | 1.33 | 1.54 | 1.06 |
Interceptions | 0.63 | 2.05 | 1.14 |
Aerials won | 2.39 | 0.94 | 1.31 |
Successful take-ons | 0.35 | 0.34 | 0.34 |
Evidently, Araujo’s statistics aren’t too dissimilar to Martinez’s and Yoro’s, though, he does excel in the air.
Signing Araujo would certainly be considered as a statement signing.
