Man City interested in signing ‘incredible’ £55m Arsenal target after selling Julian Alvarez

Although Julian Alvarez is now set to leave Manchester City for Atletico Madrid, Arsenal did reportedly table their late interest to their Premier League rivals.

Arsenal were willing to pay £70m for Alvarez, but there was no intention on City’s side to sell to Mikel Arteta once again.

Pep Guardiola was happy to allow both Oleksandr Zinchenko and Gabriel Jesus to depart for north London, but Alvarez was seemingly a different story.

It’s unfortunate for Arsenal, given Alvarez could have been perfectly suited to playing alongside Kai Havertz, or able to act as a stylistic replacement.

But either way, Arteta and his team will likely just be hoping that City are weaker for losing Alvarez, who should light up La Liga.

That being said, after recouping from Atletico for the Argentina international, City may look to swiftly add a replacement.

20-year-old Savinho has already arrived from Troyes, but it would appear something of a gamble to not replace Alvarez who made 54 appearances and scored 19 goals last term.

Man City could make move for Pedro Neto who Mikel Arteta wants at Arsenal

According to , City could reinvest the funds generated from Alvarez’s sale in the direction of Wolverhampton Wanderers winger Pedro Neto.

Arteta would love Neto at Arsenal – even if his injury history will be a concern for any club looking at a deal.

The 24-year-old has suffered a series of serious injuries in recent seasons, but has by and large has been ‘incredible’ when fit.

Gary O’Neil recently admitted that he would sell Neto at the right price, a player he would still ultimately still be loath to lose.

And whilst Arsenal sit and ponder a late move for Neto to boost their firepower up top, it could be damaging if Manchester City went over their heads.

If Neto can stay injury free, there’s no doubt that he could help win silverware at any top side – he’s got all of the attributes needed.

And given the £55m-rated winger can operate on either side of an attacking three, he could really benefit Arteta’s options next season, able to start alongside or instead of Bukayo Saka.

That being said, Arsenal are still hoping to sell four more players before the end of August, which could free up some funds.
