Man City have already started talks to sign ‘very underrated’ midfielder who is also wanted by Liverpool

TBR Football understands that Man City have held talks with Morgan Gibbs-White’s people about the possibility of a move to the Etihad Stadium in the summer.

The Nottingham Forest star is now one of City’s top summer transfer targets as Pep Guardiola continues to overhaul his squad following a rather underwhelming campaign.

TBR Football has already revealed that Liverpool and Newcastle United are also keen on Gibbs White and will face strong competition from the former Premier League champions.

The 25-year-old is open to leaving Forest should they fail to qualify for the Champions League and a move to the Etihad Stadium is something which appeals to him.

Man City unfazed by Nottingham Forest’s asking price for Morgan Gibbs-White

Manchester City are not being put off by Nottingham Forest’s £100m asking price for Morgan Gibbs-White, sources have told TBR Football chief correspondent Graeme Bailey.

Forest are adamant that nothing is currently happening, but Gibbs-White, who Jamie Carragher has called ‘very underrated’, is aware of the interest and his people have confirmed he would be open to joining City this summer.

Meanwhile, City sources have confirmed to TBR Football that the 25-year-old is one of their top options in terms of attacking midfielders.

With Kevin De Bruyne leaving City this summer, the club need to replace him and Trincao and Charles De Ketelaere remain of interest to them. Contact has already been made with both players.

Number one on their list of attacking midfielders is Florian Wirtz, however, the German looks destined to join Bayern Munich at this stage.

Forest qualifying for the Champions League is likely to determine Morgan Gibbs-White’s future for next season, although Nuno Espirito Santo’s side have just dropped out of the top five.
