Man City are hoping to sign £68m star ahead of Tottenham this summer

Premier League champions Manchester City could be about to spell bad news for Tottenham Hotspur in the remaining six weeks of the transfer market.

After securing a deal for Archie Gray, many Spurs fans will be itching for the club to build on that success, hoping they’ll now make a concerted effort to sign a new forward.

At the start of the summer, Ange Postecoglou reportedly made it clear that he wanted to sign a versatile attacker, perhaps a winger who could also play in central areas.

In fact, Postecoglou even recently warned Daniel Levy that he needed the signing, perhaps fearing that time was ticking away.

And perhaps that is partly because Spurs looked to have missed out in the race for Desire Doue.

The Frenchman now seems set to sign for Bayern Munich, meaning Tottenham are out of the race for Doue.

That being said, Eberechi Eze remains the big summer hope for a lot of people close to Spurs.

And although Tottenham have made an enquiry for Eze, it now seems as if Manchester City could move into pole position.

Man City could turn to Tottenham target Eberechi Eze if Kevin De Bruyne leaves

are now reporting that Manchester City are considering a £68m move for Eze, who could act as a potential replacement for Kevin De Bruyne.

The report details that Saudi side Al-Ittihad are attempting to convince De Bruyne to leave City, ‘dangling a lucrative contract’ in front of the 33-year-old.

And in the scenario that the Belgian leaves, Crystal Palace would be powerless to stop City signing Eze were they to pay his £60m release clause, which includes add-ons.

The information does mention that Eze is also of interest to Tottenham as well, who may then struggle to compete with Pep Guardiola’s pull.

Many felt as if Spurs were simply waiting until the Euros had concluded in order to make a concerted move, and yet Eze remains a Palace player heading into pre-season.

Perhaps in that regard, Spain star Dani Olmo could still play a role in the plans of both Manchester City and Tottenham.

Fabrizio Romano recently shared that Olmo was still available for £51m after his release clause expired, a player who would be an exciting alternative to Eze for either team.
