‘Makes no sense’: Liverpool’s Klopp says something strange happened after Xhaka’s red card
Jurgen Klopp was a frustrated man last night after Liverpool failed to get the better of a 10-man Arsenal side.
The Reds went into the game as the favourites yesterday. Klopp named a really strong side and even some Arsenal fans believed that their team was going to get battered.
To make things worse, Granit Xhaka got himself a red card after just 24 minutes. Everyone expected the game to go only one way at that point, but Arsenal stood strong and Liverpool just couldn’t break them down.
Klopp was quizzed about his side’s failed efforts after the game and the German surprisingly claimed that his side felt pressure right after Xhaka was given his marching orders.

Asked if he felt Liverpool players were trying too hard, Klopp said, as per the : “Yes, in moments, yes. After the red card, yes. As I said, it looked like we felt under pressure, that makes no sense but it’s human, that’s how we are.
“You go out there and you go for winning something special and then all of a sudden it feels like from now on, from this moment on, you only can lose.
“Again, it is difficult but if we have then a well-settled formation, fine-tuned patterns and all these kind of things [then] it’s still difficult but it’s a bit easier and tonight, on top of that, with a pretty new line-up we had to face that. That’s the situation.
“We were not creative enough, definitely. We did a lot of things not good enough. But again, in the end, it’s 0-0, half-time. Let’s go.”

Pressure against 10 men?
Having a numerical advantage usually gives teams a big boost, especially when they’re at home. To see Klopp say his players felt pressure after the red card is really strange.
But, he’s right, it did look like his players couldn’t figure out how to inflict damage on the Gunners, who were there for the taking.
Liverpool now have to go to the Emirates next week to get the job done. Arsenal are a lot stronger at home, but if the real Jurgen Klopp’s side steps up, they should be able to book their place in the final without too much trouble.
