‘Magnificent’ Newcastle player now has release clause worth around £105m in his contract
Newcastle United have always been aware of what Bruno Guimaraes has privately said about where he would like to one day play his football.
That is according to a report from , which notes that the Brazilian is keen to get the chance to play in La Liga at some stage in his career.
It is easy to forget now, but Bruno Guimaraes was one of the players who arrived in the January transfer window where it appeared that the Magpies would be battling to simply stay in the Premier League.
Newcastle aware Bruno Guimaraes wants to play in Spain
Eddie Howe’s side’s rise up the table has been rapid. And Bruno has played a vital role in that progress. He has been ‘‘ for the club. And Newcastle fans would desperately love for the 26-year-old to spend the rest of his peak on Tyneside.

However, The Telegraph has suggested that his departure is likely at some stage, with Newcastle potentially facing the prospect of having to cash in on players to keep moving forward.
They have apparently inserted a release clause in his new contract. The Telegraph reports that it is thought to be around the £105 million Arsenal paid for Declan Rice, but could even be as high as the £115 million Chelsea spent on Moises Caicedo.
The report does suggest that there is a possibility that the clause only applies to clubs outside of the Premier League.
Meanwhile, it is noted that Bruno has privately stated a desire to play in Spain one day. And that is something that Newcastle are also aware of.
Magpies must be preparing for when midfielder moves on
We are getting to the stage where paying £100 million for Bruno could be a brilliant bit of business for a club.
Obviously, it is outrageous money. But, while Caicedo’s move to Stamford Bridge has not yet worked out, Arsenal are certainly not regretting their decision to smash their club-record on Rice.
Of course, there are only a handful of clubs who could trigger that release clause. And that number gets even smaller if it does indeed only apply to foreign sides.
Understandably, Newcastle fans will fear the day Bruno moves on. However, the club’s task is to ensure that his departure is handled in a way which gives the squad the best chance to improve in the long run.
