Luke Ayling sends Instagram message to Jack Clarke after Tottenham cameo

Jack Clarke enjoyed a rare cameo appearance last night, playing the final 23 minutes as Tottenham defeated Ludogorets 4-0 in the group stages of the Europa League.

The youngster has been forced to wait patiently for a chance in North London, although in Jose Mourinho he does have a boss who appears to rate him highly.

Clarke produced an eye-catching performance and the challenge for him now will be to force his way into Moutinho’s thinking on a more frequent basis.

Following his cameo last night he took to Instagram to speak of his pride at earning another opportunity to shine – receiving a message of support from former Leeds teammate Luke Ayling.

Clarke began his career at Leeds United with the youngster emerging through the youth ranks and going onto have an impact in the first-team.

The winger played 28 times for the Whites before earning a move to Tottenham in the summer of 2019.

He scored twice and registered two assists as Leeds secured a place in the play-offs during 2018/19 and proved a constant menace.

Following his move to Tottenham, he was loaned back out to Elland Road, although a lack of game time saw him return to Spurs in January.

A move to QPR for the second half of the campaign didn’t work out either and it seemed as though he might go back on loan for this season.

Mourinho had other ideas, however, choosing to keep him around at Tottenham.

His European outings will have given Clarke hope that he can earn more opportunities to play this season.

The youngster looks set for a bright future and last night could be just the start.
