Luis Garcia suggests signing Thiago is bad news for another Liverpool player
that he believes if Liverpool sign Thiago then it could prove to be bad news for Naby Keita at Liverpool – given the similarities between the two players.
Thiago, 29, has been strongly linked with Liverpool over the past few months with the Italian-born midfielder entering the final 12 months of his contract at Bayern Munich.
Liverpool are interested in signing Thiago and that Anfield is deemed as the player’s most-likely destination. It is believed the former Barcelona star is rated in the region of £36million.
While Garcia believes Thiago would be a good signing for Liverpool, he stated that it is near impossible to bring players to the club that are not guaranteed to start – and if they are, then the likes of Keita could suffer.
“If top players come to Liverpool and you have to move one of the other ones on, that’s not easy,” “If you see Keita, the way that Keita plays is similar to Thiago. The way they move, the place that they play is very similar.
“Keita is still adapting to the Premier League. It is not easy to bring in these top players.”

TBR’s view – Is Thiago in, Keita out, good business?
From a financial point of view, it is poor business. Thiago is four years older than Keita, and that from a business point of view would be bad. But from a football viewpoint, Thiago is a much better midfielder than Keita.
Though not a like-for-like, they are similar. Bringing Thiago in for Keita would be good in the short-term, but it could hamper Liverpool in the long-term – with Keita showing glimpses to become a future starter.
