Luis Garcia sends two-word Instagram message to Liverpool star Thiago

Thiago Alcantara is one of four Liverpool players to be included in the 11 nominations to win FIFA’s Player of the Year award and has underlined his delight with a post on Instagram – to which Luis Garcia has responded with a two-word message.

Thiago, 29, enjoyed a stellar final season with Bayern Munich in which the Italy-born Spain international helped Hansi Flick’s side not only win another Bundesliga title – but also the Champions League trophy, beating PSG in the final.

The former Barcelona star ended his spell with Bayern and has since moved to Liverpool, but his spell at Anfield has so far been blighted by injury and a positive test. He has managed just two appearances for the Reds.

Despite that, he is on the 11-man shortlist along with Liverpool stars Sadio Mane, Mo Salah and Virgil van Dijk. Thiago confirmed his delight at his nomination with a post on Instagram, thanking Liverpool, Spain and Bayern.

The other names to be included for the award are Lionel Messi, Cristiano Ronaldo, Robert Lewandowski, Kevin De Bruyne, Kylian Mbappe, Neymar and Sergio Ramos. The current award-holder is Messi, unsurprisingly.

Luis Garcia reacted to Thiago’s nomination by posting on the Spanish midfielder’s Instagram, telling the Reds star that it is “well deserved”. Reds goalkeeper Adrian also commented a similar message, translated as: “Well deserved mate”.
