Luis Garcia reacts on Twitter as Liverpool confirm signing of Takumi Minamino
Liverpool have confirmed the signing of Takumi Minamino on Thursday morning for a bargain £7.25million from RedBull Salzburg in a move that will see him join on January 1 – and Reds favurite Luis Garcia has reacted on Twitter.
Minamino, 24, starred against Liverpool in the Champions League this season for Jesse Marsch’s impressive side. He scored at Anfield in the 4-3 defeat, but it has been claimed that Liverpool were looking at the Japan international before the matches.
The versatile attacker has been handed the number 18 shirt, and is expected to rival the likes of Adam Lallana, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and Xherda Shaqiri for a place in the midfield, out wide or even as a replacement for Roberto Firmino.
Garcia, who played very much like new signing Minamino and became a legend at Anfield doing so, raved about Liverpool’s latest star on Twitter. He welcomed the Japanese ace, describing him as a “special player”.
Creativity is very difficult to find on these days of data and analysis!! Takumi Minamino is one of those special players that can provide something different. All the best.

TBR’s view – Can Minamino heed Garcia’s claim and shine at Liverpool?
Minamino has only played regularly in the Austrian top tier, but he has shone in the Champions League. The likelihood is that he will need time to get used to the League and the Liverpool fans, and that is where Klopp’s management comes into play.
If Minamino is used against the lower sides and in the FA Cup, and given substitute appearances against the better teams, the he can adapt slowly to the Premier League – but in the right way. Throwing him at the deep end will go wrong.
