Lucas Radebe and former team-mate Ben Gibson hail Patrick Bamford for proving doubters wrong

Patrick Bamford put in an incredible performance last night, bagging an impressive second-half hat-trick as Leeds United dismantled Aston Villa at Villa Park.

He squirmed home a rebound following Rodrigo’s saved effort, smashed home a stunning left-foot strike from the edge of the box before curling home a deft effort inside the box for Leeds United’s third in the 3-0 win.

Considering plenty of pundits and rival fans suggested Bamford was not good enough to keep Leeds in the Premier League over the summer, the forward has clearly proven a few people wrong.

Bamford has now scored six goals this season, putting him among the top scorers in the Premier League so far this season.

His display certainly gained plenty of reaction, with some former team-mates and ex-players quick to praise Bamford for proving his doubters wrong.

Ben Gibson, who played with Bamford at Middlesbrough, took to Twitter to highlight his happiness at seeing the frontman prove a few doubters wrong. Izzy Brown, a former Leeds loanee who was in the Chelsea youth system with Bamford, also had his say.

Former Premier League striker Darren Bent was also quick to heap praise on Bamford, for silencing plenty of critics, many of which appear on Bent’s talkSPORT station.

But the biggest praise for Bamford will have come from an absolute Leeds United legend. Former South African defender Lucas Radebe, The Chief, took to Twitter and hailed the Leeds striker.

In the first-half, Bamford looked set to frustrate, missing two great chances, but he kept getting into goal scoring positions and, in the end, scored two sublime individual efforts to take the tie away from Leeds.

There’s no doubt Bamford is proving plenty of people wrong.
