Lucas Perez unfortunate at West Ham with his lack of action

West Ham United signed centre-forward Lucas Perez for £4million () in the summer and he can consider himself slightly unlucky with the amount of chances he’s had so far at the London Stadium.

The 30-year-old arrived from Arsenal to provide extra cover in attack for the Hammers, but he’s mainly been a fringe figure under manager Manuel Pellegrini.

He’s featured just four times off the bench in the Premier League, while playing three times in the Carabao Cup before the club’s exit.

The Spaniard did score against Macclesfield and Tottenham in the cup to prove he can make a difference in the final third, which is why the manager may have looked to use him more.

West Ham have talisman Marko Arnautovic as their first-choice striker and he’s always going to start in the league, but he is managing a knee injury this campaign.

Meanwhile, Javier Hernandez is offering very little threat as his understudy in attack and Perez’s name certainly deserves to be in the reckoning a bit more.

West Ham still have eight fixtures remaining in 2018 and that could well force Pellegrini to rotating his team at times to cope.

Perez needs to be prepared to seize any opportunities that come his way and the left-footed striker can be clinical in the 18-yard box if given a regular run of games.
