Lucas Perez already looking like a failed gamble by West Ham
In the summer West Ham United decided they needed extra cover in the striking positions. In something of a surprise move, they swooped for Arsenal front-man Lucas Perez. , the Hammers spent £4 million bringing the Spaniard in from North London.
Perez had struggled to settle at The Emirates. In 21 games for the club, he scored seven times, with just one of those goals coming in the Premier League.
So it was a gamble from West Ham. It is starting to look like a gamble that has not paid off.

Perez was dropped completely from the first-team squad for the recent loss to Tottenham Hotspur. There was no injury for the Spaniard. Instead, Javier Hernandez and Grady Diangana were preferred from the bench.
So far, he has just one goal for the club, which came in the 8-0 pasting of Macclesfield Town in the EFL Cup.
Perez, who turned 30 in September, is certainly not having a dream start to life at West Ham. Considering his age, the resale value on the striker is also poor.
He will need to pick up his form as soon as possible for West Ham to consider this £4 million punt worthwhile.
