Frenchman Digne, signed from Barcelona for £18 million () in the summer, has arguably been the best of the lot along with Richarlison.

He’s dished the dirt on Silva, and Everton supporters have reason to be excited.

‘He really lit a fire inside of me’

about how instrumental Silva was in facilitating his transfer from Spain.

He said: “I wasn’t really planning to leave Barca and they were not looking to sell me, but when I spoke to Everton manager Marco Silva on the phone I got this special feeling.

“He really lit a fire inside of me and I thought, ‘Wow! I really want to play for this club and manager’.

“Then I went to Barca and asked them to please let me go. They accepted that this was my wish. I am thankful for that because now I feel happy in Everton.”

Can Silva attract top players to Goodison?

From Digne’s assessment, it appears that Silva is a persuasive individual.

The fact that a player of Digne’s quality wasn’t looking to leave Barcelona, but then felt compelled to join the Silva revolution must be encouraging for the fans.

It appears that Silva and director of football Marcel Brands make a great team.

If he can now turn Everton into a competitive side in the Premier League and get them challenging for Europe, he will make the club an even more attractive proposition for the top players to look at.
