Lucas Digne misses the Champions League, and that’s a worry for Everton
Everton defender Lucas Digne has said he misses playing Champions League football, in an admission that is bound to worry some supporters.
The Frenchman has appeared over 20 times in Europe’s most prestigious competition with former clubs Barcelona, Roma, Paris Saint Germain and Lille.

And it appears Digne is having withdrawal symptoms from the competition.
He said (): “Everton have ambitions to play in the Champions League, and so do I, because I miss it.
“I was used to playing for clubs who were always in the Champions League. But competition for the four Champions League spots in the Premier League is very hard. However, there is no doubt that we aim for Europe.”
Everton made a fantastic start to 2020/21 season, but are currently navigating a rocky road.
Three straight defeats have seen the Toffees slip from top spot to seventh, and questions are again being asked of the team’s top-four credentials.

And one wonders about the future of Digne if Everton fail to break the mould come the end of the season.
TBR’s View – Teams could be queuing up for Digne
If Everton don’t seal Champions League football, then they may have trouble keep hold of Digne, who is undoubtedly now one of the club’s best players.
The man is a Champions League-quality player, and him going on the record saying he misses the competition might just draw some attention his way.
Digne, coming into his prime now at the age of 27, would get into the starting XI of many big teams across Europe, so it is vital Everton fight all the way to give themselves the best chance of retaining the £18 million star ().
