Lucas Digne has praised the impact of Everton teammate who’s a “big leader”

Everton’s Lucas Digne has claimed that “big leader” Seamus Coleman is an influential figure at Goodison Park.

Digne, 27, is the first-choice left-back for the Toffees that is viewed by many as one of the standout individuals in the current squad.

Meanwhile, 32-year-old Coleman is a right-back who plays in the opposite full-back position, and is a real Everton cult hero after making 346 appearances so far for the Merseyside club.

Coleman, who earns £70,000-a-week (), is the club captain with real experience.

The Irish defender isn’t a nailed-on starter in Carlo Ancelotti’s XI, but remains a real consistent figure at the back when he plays, and he’s still made 27 appearances across all competitions so far this season.

He’s received a glowing verdict from his teammate Digne:

“I am very proud to be captain, it is a big responsibility. But I don’t feel different [when captain], I try to be a leader and to give my best every day,” .

“The real captain is Seamus, he is the captain with a big C. He is a big leader, a positive leader… a really good man. He is there for you on and off the pitch.”

TBR’s View:

Everton have their left-back position solved for years to come if they keep Frenchman Digne, who remains underrated by a lot of neutrals that watch the Premier League.

However, this summer could be a time when the Toffees need focus on targeting a right-back signing in the window.

Coleman has proven he can still be a valuable asset in the squad with his presence and know-how on the pitch, but he turns 33 in October so some fresh competition makes sense.
