Lucas Digne describes Everton manager Marco Silva as one of the best

Everton defender Lucas Digne has claimed there is no question that Marco Silva is one of the best managers around.

The 42-year-old is now in his second season in charge at Goodison Park and it’s been a mixed start to the campaign.

He is a Portuguese boss recognised for his eye-catching style of attacking football, but he’s struggled to stay in a role for the long-term so far during his managerial career.

The Toffees have lost back-to-back games in the Premier League since the return from the international break, which has derailed would could have been a decent start.

They managed to beat Sheffield Wednesday in the Carabao Cup on Tuesday night, but now turn their attention to Manchester City at the weekend in the league.

French left-back Digne, who is a star player in the Everton squad, has explained his huge faith in Silva and feels he’s a great manager to have at the helm.

“He (Silva) is one of the best, no question,”

“He gives you a lot of confidence. We work a lot during the week. Set pieces, tactics, organisation, our system, our opponents. We work on everything.

“The manager understands his job perfectly. He is excellent at communicating what he wants and every player understands exactly their role. You can see how many players have improved under him.”

TBR’s View:

It appears like the pressure is beginning to mount on Silva and questions are being asked on whether he can take the Merseyside club forward.

He’s managed to assemble a decent squad on paper at Everton, but unfortunately inconsistency is killing them at present.

They want to be a team pushing for the top six this season and it looks like there is a real opportunity to do so with rivals slacking off, but right now they look quite far off.

Silva does appear to be a popular figure in the Everton dressing room and he needs his players to dig him out of the hole he’s in.
