‘Love watching him ‘: Pundit raves about Arsenal youngster and makes Grealish comparison
Between inconsistent Premier League performances and the fallout from Sunday night’s European Super League announcement, there are few positives coming out of Arsenal right now.
Emile Smith Rowe, however, has been a ray of light at the Emirates this season.
The 20-year-old has broken through to Mikel Arteta’s first team and turned out on a total of 26 occasions this season.
His displays in an attacking midfield role have caught the eye while bigger names such as captain Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang have disappointed.
One man who’s been paying close attention is former Chelsea, Celtic and Aston Villa forward Tony Cascarino, who has compared the England under-21 international to one of the senior national team’s key players.
Speaking on , Cascarino said: “Emile Smith Rowe has been terrific. I just love watching the kid play.
“I think he’s got that Jack Grealish about him, Jack Wilshere, he can twist and turn in tight areas, knows when to release the ball, knows when to run into space.
“I think he’s a terrific player, and I think he’s got a hell of a future, because he’s just got so much ability, and he doesn’t have to rely on blistering pace.
“He’s got much more than that. He’s one of them, you’re not quite sure where his best position is, but he’s going to be a big star I think for Arsenal.
“I like the look of him. He seems to have a great attitude.”
Smith Rowe had spells at Bundesliga side RB Leipzig and Huddersfield before forcing his way into the picture at Arsenal, and he played from the start in Sunday’s 1-1 draw with Fulham at the Emirates.
