Louie Barry to remain at Aston Villa next season according to report
Aston Villa youngster Louie Barry is set to stay with Dean Smith’s side next season.
, the 18-year-old England youth international is expected to continue his development next season at Villa Park. A loan move has been floated around for Barry, but the teenager is now expected to stay at the club.
The former FC Barcelona academy star has only made one appearance for the first-team. However, Barry scored in that lone cap for Aston Villa, scoring in a 4-1 FA Cup loss to Liverpool.
The game was notable as Jurgen Klopp’s side took on a squad made up completely of academy players following a coronavirus outbreak within the Villa first team.

Barry’s goal drew respect from Premier League legend Ian Wright, who praised the attacker on . The former Arsenal star scored 113 goals in the division during his time as a player.
Barry is one of a number of exciting players Villa have coming through their academy.
The Birmingham-based club won the FA Youth Cup this week, and the likes of Carney Chukwuemeka and Jaden Philogene-Bidace will likely be promoted to the first team next season.
Smith missing a trick by not loaning out Barry
It is clear why Smith is keen to keep Barry at Villa for next season. The teenager has been in sensational form at youth level, with the youngster hitting 13 goals in 17 fixtures.
But with Barry now heading into a crucial period of his career, the most important step for his development is to be playing regular first-team football.
With Ollie Watkins having a sensational debut year in the Premier League and rumours circulating that another striker could be signed this summer, Barry would find first-team chances hard to come by.
A loan spell will be fantastic for Barry’s development. And given his record at youth level, the striker is well suited for a temporary move from Villa next season.
