Lothar Matthaus says rising star Arsenal are reportedly interested in is ‘like Kai Havertz’
Reported Arsenal target Dominik Szoboszlai has been compared to Kai Havertz and Ferenc Puskas by Germany legend Lothar Matthaus.
The Gunners have been linked with the Red Bull Salzburg midfielder for a number of months now, the latest report emerging earlier this month.
According to Hungarian outlet , Arsenal are eyeing the 20-year-old ahead of the January transfer window after missing out on Lyon’s Houssem Aouar in the summer.

The article – also translated by the – claimed that agent Matyas Esterhazy was questioned on the situation of his client, and he reportedly said: “Arsenal’s interest is real.”
Matthaus is confident that every top club in Europe is eyeing a player whose stock increased further last week when he scored a superb solo goal to secure Hungary’s place at next year’s Euros.
“He is a gem,” the Bayern legend said in an interview with . “He’s like Kai Havertz.
“He could move to RB Leipzig in January, but I’m convinced that every top club in Europe has him on their list, including FC Bayern.
“In Hungary, Szoboszlai is already being compared to the great Ferenc Puskas.”
TBR View:
Szoboszlai is a rising star of the highest calibre, having already registered 74 senior competitive appearances for Salzburg despite his young age.
More impressively, he already has 22 goals and 33 assists, while this season, he’s got five goals and nine assists from just 13 games.
Szoboszlai is also shining for Hungary, having won 12 caps already, scoring three goals, and now has the chance to shine on the big stage at the Euros.
He’s certainly one to watch but Arsenal are most likely not the only ones doing so, and competition for his services will be fierce for sure.
