‘Lot of learning to do’ – Rangers fans react to Ross McCrorie’s red card for Portsmouth
Rangers loanee Ross McCrorie was sent off on his debut for Portsmouth. It was an afternoon to forget for McCrorie as Portsmouth were beaten 1-0 at Shrewsbury Town.
In his first competitive outing for Pompey, McCrorie was given a midfield role. He nearly scored early in the game but his effort was saved and then his afternoon went downhill from there.
Portsmouth – who are fancied for a promotion push – were beaten by a long-range stunner by Ryan Giles, a 19-year-old midfielder on loan from Wolves. Giles scored in the 68th minute before McCrorie’s late red card.
Learning curve

The Scotland youth international picked up two yellow cards and missed the final 10 minutes as Portsmouth pushed for an equaliser. And he will now miss the next game – a televised EFL Cup tie against Birmingham City at Fratton Park.
McCrorie plays as a tenacious tough-tackling midfielder and this will be a learning curve for him. Steven Gerrard sent the 21-year-old out on loan to gain experience and he will hope that McCrorie becomes a wiser player as a result of his debut dismissal.
Here are some tweets from Rangers fans reacting to McCrorie’s red card.
