Loris Karius has ‘great conditions’ at Liverpool and could stay
Liverpool goalkeeper Loris Karius insists he is happy to remain at Anfield and fight for his place at the club, despite reports he could be on his way out permanently this summer.
Karius has spent the past two seasons out on loan at Turkish side Besiktas. However, that deal was cut short recently over payment issues.
But the German was not invited back to Melwood to train with Liverpool, instead heading back to Germany to train alone.
He has since been linked with a move to Hertha Berlin and recently that the stopper is considered surplus to requirements at Anfield.
, Karius has made it clear he will only leave Liverpool to be a guaranteed starter elsewhere and is under no pressure to leave this summer. The 26-year-old claims he is happy to battle Alisson and Adrian for the goalkeeper spot and believes he will have plenty of opportunities to play some first-team football with Liverpool given their expected busy schedule.
“Of course I have to play if I should actually change clubs. It makes no sense to say, ‘ I’m leaving Liverpool for a worse club and I’m only number two there’. But I’m not in a pressure situation at all, I don’t have to change.
“I can accelerate in training at Liverpool. As the second goalkeeper in England you know that you get your games. I am currently at the best club in the world, playing for titles, have the highest level around me every day in training. I am fully aware that I am in a good position to be in Liverpool. I have great conditions there.”
Of course, Liverpool fans will be hoping that Karius can be moved on to secure funds for their own transfer activities.
The German is unlikely to play any regular football next season and considering a £7.25 million fee had previously been agreed with Besiktas for the player, Liverpool would have been hoping for a similar amount should they have sold Karius this summer.
But if they cannot find a buyer willing to give him the number one jersey, it seems selling Karius may be difficult.
