Loris Karius has completed his Newcastle medical – Sky journalist

Sky Sports journalist Florian Plettenberg has revealed that Newcastle United are about to sign Loris Karius on a free transfer after the German successfully completed his medical yesterday.
Toon fans did not expect any more incomings after the transfer window shut eight days ago. However, the Magpies have been forced to dive into the free-agent market to bring in some much-needed cover.
Loris Karius is about to sign for Newcastle after completing his medical
Newcastle signed Nick Pope from Burnley and loaned out Martin Dubravka to Manchester United in the summer window.
Pope is the Magpies’ undisputed number one now, while Karl Darlow and Mark Gillespie started the campaign as his two deputies. Newcastle looked set for the season, but things suddenly changed.
Darlow reportedly tore his ankle ligaments and is set for a spell on the sidelines. Newcastle had to replace him, and Karius, who was released by Liverpool this summer, is set to be the man.
Plettenberg of Sky Sports Germany revealed on yesterday that Karius had completed his medical at St James’ Park, and it’s only a matter of time now before his signing is announced.
“News Karius: Medical successfully completed! He will become a new player of NUFC. Announcement soon. Karius replaces Darlow,” Plettenberg tweeted yesterday.

Karius, branded as a ‘fantastic’ player, was the man brought in by Jurgen Klopp to Liverpool back in 2016 to solve his side’s goalkeeping problems.
However, following a howler in the Champions League final against Real Madrid, there was no way back for the German shot-stopper.
Since that infamous night in Kyiv, Karius spent underwhelming loan spells at Besiktas and Union Berlin. He was released by Liverpool at the end of his contract in July this year, and he has been on the hunt for a new club since.
It looks like Newcastle have agreed to give him a chance now, and it will be interesting to see how Karius will fare.
