Llorente would potentially be another bargain for West Ham

West Ham United are reportedly interested in signing Diego Llorente in the summer.

The Hammers are one of three teams interested in signing the Real Sociedad defender along with fellow London clubs Tottenham Hotpsur and Fulham, .

Llorente has been impressive for his club this term, having made 13 appearances for his club. Unfortunately for the player, he was forced to miss nine games in the first half of the season thanks to two separate injury problems.

The former Real Madrid player, who left the Bernabeu in 2017 after making just two La Liga appearances for Los Blancos, has really caught the eye for Sociedad.

Were West Ham able to beat the other teams to his signature this summer, then he could be the second bargain signing in successive summers after the acquisition of Issa Diop in 2018.

Llorente could be an excellent partner for Diop

Apparently Llorente has a release clause of £22 million, which is fairly low considering the current state of the transfer market.

Llorente is a high quality central defender who also has the ability to play as a holding midfielder.

The Spaniard is a good distributor of the ball, which could complement Diop’s game nicely.

Although he didn’t play many games for the first-team, Llorente having been honed at Real Madrid makes him a potentially exciting signing.

His links to Tottenham certainly do suggest him as being a good player.

West Ham could therefore land themselves a bargain for the second summer in a row and in turn hand Diop a solid new partner for 2019/2020.
