Liverpool’s Rhian Brewster says he discussed leaving on loan with Jurgen Klopp
Liverpool youngster Rhian Brewster might have left the club on loan this summer, but manager Jurgen Klopp was quick to deny any exit.
The striker says a conversation was had with the German tactician, but it quickly became apparent he wanted him involved with the first-team in 2019/20.

, he said: “I spoke to him at the beginning of the season and he just said ‘no’. He doesn’t want me to go on loan, he wants me to stay. So that’s fair enough and it’s good to hear.”
There had been plenty of talk regarding Brewster’s immediate future throughout the summer, with the U17 World Cup winner having spent over a year on the sidelines.
In January 2018 Brewster sustained a knee injury against the Manchester City U23s. He needed surgery on that and his ankle, and many felt a loan move was likely in order to help him get back on track.

Brewster hasn’t gone anywhere though, and impressed in pre-season.
He is yet to appear for the first-team this term, but will likely make his senior competitive debut against MK Dons tonight.
TBR’s view
The talented young striker will be delighted that Klopp has faith in him to contribute to the senior side in 2019/20.

It’s going to be another long season for the Reds, and Roberto Firmino will obviously not be able to play every game.
He should get plenty of chances, especially in the cup competitions, with Divock Origi the only other striking option available to Klopp.
