Liverpool’s reported target David Carmo has a £35.5m release clause
Liverpool’s hunt for a new centre-back this month could take them to Portugal and Braga’s David Carmo, according to several recent reports.
However, they will have to pay a significant amount for the imposing defender, as he signed a new deal in November which included a minimum fee release clause.
, the new deal contained a €40 million (£35.5m) buy-out clause which Liverpool would have to meet in order to get any deal done for the player.

at the start of the month that Carmo is a player on Liverpool’s radar.

Liverpool are set for a winter of centre-back targets after the injury suffered by Virgil van Dijk earlier this season.
The Reds have so far managed to get by with the use of under-23 players and even utilising Fabinho as a central defender. Jurgen Klopp’s men still top the Premier League table and they have looked reasonably strong at the back without their talismanic Dutchman.
Carmo is an impressive talent and at just 21-years-old the 6ft 5ins man mountain has plenty of room to grow.
However, he only made his first-team debut for Braga in January 2020, and paying such a huge fee for an inexperienced defender would not see a wise move from Liverpool at this point in time.
That release clause should see Liverpool moving on to other targets if indeed they do plan to sign a new centre-back this month.
