Liverpool’s business suggests they may be about to launch a bid for £85m attacker

Liverpool supporters will be the first to admit that this summer has been very frustrating from a transfer window perspective.

Arne Slot’s arrival at Anfield was incredibly welcome, a stellar replacement for Jurgen Klopp, ready to install his own ideas.

Understandably, Slot has needed time to assess his squad after joining to then liaise with Richard Hughes and Liverpool’s transfer team on who they might look to sign this summer.

But most associated with the club imagined that business would have got going by now, but Liverpool are yet to announce a single signing.

That being said, plenty of the club’s youngsters could be on the move.

Right-back Calvin Ramsey has already agreed to join Wigan Athletic for the season, and now a host of the club’s young forwards are also thought to be close to doing something similar.

According to the , Jayden Danns, who is missing Liverpool’s pre-season tour with a back injury, is attracting interest from Wayne Rooney’s Plymouth Argyle.

And in addition, both Ben Doak and Kaide Gordon have outgrown the under-21s and could also head out on loan.

Liverpool might still launch a bid for Mohammed Kudus this summer

Of course, if Liverpool were willing to sanction temporary departures for all three of those young forwards it would leave Slot’s attack looking a little light.

None of the names mentioned would be envisioned to start games immediately, but particularly in Doak’s case, he could play an important squad role.

Without the trio mentioned, Slot would only be able to call upon Luis Diaz, Cody Gakpo, Diogo Jota, Mohamed Salah and Darwin Nunez.

Just five players to cover three positions across a long season.

Therefore, could the club have something up their sleeve?

Liverpool’s new hierarchy of decision-makers must be determined to prove the club’s ambition this summer, even if they will approach things methodically.

And after Liverpool were linked with a move for Mohammed Kudus earlier this summer, could they be about to launch a surprise bid?

Kudus’ release clause has now expired but that doesn’t mean that Liverpool couldn’t test the Hammers’ resolve for the ‘incredible’ forward.

Of course, those sentiments aren’t just limited to Kudus, Liverpool could be about to launch a bid for any number of forwards on their shortlist.

So whilst things are frustrating right now, Slot could still be handed a landmark signing.
