Ojrzynski’s promotion comes amid a mini goalkeeper crisis at Anfield. Alisson Becker’s injury sparked this as the Brazilian limped off during the opening Premier League game of the season.

This was shortly after Simon Mignolet was sold to Club Brugge, leaving Adrian to fill in. The Spaniard joined on a free transfer after leaving West Ham. And less than two weeks later, he was the hero in the Super Cup as he saved a decisive penalty.

But Adrian picked up an ankle injury in the aftermath of the penalty shootout celebrations as a fan strayed onto the pitch and collided with the Liverpool players. He played through the pain against Southampton but made an error to cost Liverpool their clean sheet.

Liverpool have also had to sign Andy Lonergan on a free transfer after Alisson’s injury. With Caoimhin Keller recovering from an injury and Kamil Grabara out on loan, Klopp has felt the need to promote Ojrzynski.

The 16-year-old signed for Liverpool from Legia Warsaw in a £200k deal, , as the Reds beat Manchester United to his signature. He is now training with the first-team already.

TBR’s view

Ojrzynski is clearly not going to play any first-team games. Adrian, Lonergan and Kelleher are all ahead in the pecking order. There are also several other goalkeepers competing with the Poland U16 stopper in the academy.

Klopp has given Ojrzynski a chance for now but Kai McKenzie-Lyle, Shamal George, Ben Winterbottom, Daniel Atherton, Vitezslav Jaros and Oscar Kelly are also competing for the academy goalkeeper spots.
