Liverpool: Talks with Inter midfielder begin; Sakho exit imminent; Lucas subject to new offer
France Football, cited by the , claim that the club have begun talks to sound out Inter midfielder Geoffrey Kondogbia over a potential move to Anfield. The holding midfielder was left out for periods of the season as the club have had a number of managers already this campaign, and could be sold after disappointing club bosses since his arrival.
He has come back into the side of late and may have saved his career at the San Siro, but a move still seems likely with both Chelsea and Liverpool considering a move for the promising 23-year-old who has three and a half years left on his contract.
However, one Frenchman who could be leaving the club rather than joining is Mamadou Sakho. The central defender was left out of the under 23s squad for their midweek clash with Manchester United, sparking reports in the that the former PSG man is near to an exit from the club.
Jurgen Klopp has repeatedly reiterated that Sakho has no future at the club but no club has yet met the £20 million fee that Liverpool are requesting for the 26-year-old despite interest from the likes of West Brom, Southampton and Sevilla.
Another man on his way out may be midfielder Lucas, as the quote Brazilian source Rario 98FM as claiming that Atletico Mineiro have made an offer for the 30-year-old. The Brazilian outfit have offered him an opportunity to move this month ahead of the new season after 10 years on Merseyside.
Lucas is believed to prefer to stay in Europe if possible and still has 18 months to run on his existing contract, although he is reluctant to play a back-up role even if that is how Jurgen Klopp wants to retain him at the club.
