Liverpool supporters react as Borussia Dortmund urged to sign Reds attacker

Borussia Dortmund are on the lookout to find cover for superstar Erling Haaland up front and the German club have been urged to consider Liverpool striker Divock Origi in the January window – and Reds supporters have responded on Twitter.

Origi, 25, has fallen down the pecking order and a January move is becoming more and more likely. Despite earning icon status for his brace against Barcelona in the 2019 Champions League semi-final, and the one in the final, a move is expected.

Liverpool will sanction his exit should their demands be met in January. The Belgium international is also likely to want to leave himself, in order to re-establish himself in Roberto Martinez’s side ahead of Euro 2021.

Ex-Germany and Bayern Munich midfielder Stefan Effenberg has discussed who could offer Haaland some cover at Dortmund, and identified both Origi and PSG striker Mauro Icardi as potential January additions – with the latter also struggling for time.

“Two other candidates for a winter transfer or at least a loan deal until the end of the season: Divock Origi from Liverpool or Mauro Icardi from PSG. They haven’t played there this season, just sat on the bench,”

Origi has managed just seven appearances in all competitions this season, scoring only once in a 7-2 Carabao Cup win over Lincoln City. The signing and form of Diogo Jota has pushed Origi down the pecking order, and now a move is expected.

Liverpool supporters reacted to the news that Origi had been touted with a move to Dortmund – and some have urged the Reds to offer Origi in a swap deal for Haaland, while others think it would be a good move for the ex-Lille striker.
