Liverpool supporters discuss Divock Origi after cameo role against Manchester City
Premier League champions Liverpool suffered a sobering 4-0 defeat to closest rivals Manchester City on Thursday evening at the Etihad – and Reds fans have discussed the future of striker Divock Origi.
City were rampant in Liverpool’s first game since Jurgen Klopp’s side were crowned champions, as they laid out a marker that they are ready to go toe to toe with the Reds for the 2020-21 Premier League title.
The combination of Phil Foden, Kevin De Bruyne and Raheem Sterling proved far too much for Liverpool. City took the lead as Gomez fouled ex-Liverpool star Sterling, allowing De Bruyne to score his second penalty in two games.
Sterling then scored himself after being played in by Foden, who has been in electrifying form since the resumption of football – convincing Pep Guardiola into starting him against Liverpool. It was Foden that made it three.

An excellent one-two with De Bruyne saw Foden net, before a Sterling shot was turned into his own net by Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain. Liverpool were powerless to avoid defeat, and their options from the bench did not help.
Origi, 25, is a Liverpool legend following his Champions League semi-final brace against Barcelona last season. But the £10million has failed to make an impact this season, scoring just five goals in 38 appearances.
Liverpool supporters bemoaned their lack of quality options from the bench during the 4-0 defeat, with Origi offering very little as his side were completely outclassed by Pep Guardiola’s men.

Absolutely! Origi only look better against the smaller clubs, but coming in as substitute in this calibre of games he always look lost.

Think Minamino is going to be a steal, but the difference in takin on Bernardo and Mahrez vs. Origi and Minamino is blatant. We need to a strengthen our attack. If it’s not Havertz, Adama or both, at least someone like Buendia.

I love this team.
But when City are bringing Mahrez, B. Silva and Cancelo off the bench, while we’re bringing off Origi and Minamino, there’s an issue.

Now that are champions of England, we need to strengthen our squad. Watching Origi come on for Bobby while bring on Mahrez for Sterling makes me want more competition for our front 3.
