Liverpool star Harvey Elliott aims dig at Everton fans after seeing what happened at Goodison Park

Liverpool and Everton had to settle for a 2-2 draw in the final Merseyside Derby at Goodison Park.

The rivalry between the two clubs is often underplayed because of the dominance on the red side of the city, but Everton were up for it on Wednesday night.

Goodison Park was rocking from the first minute of the game, and after James Tarkowski’s late goal, the roar from the home fans was deafening.

However, Liverpool star Harvey Elliott has said something entirely different about the atmosphere at Goodison Park during the derby.

Harvey Elliott aims dig at Everton fans after Liverpool drop points

Everton started the game against Liverpool really well.

The Toffees showed no fear against the Premier League leaders, and you could see that David Moyes had got his players ready for the derby.

Beto gave the lead to the home side, but Alexis Mac Allister cancelled that out just five minutes later. Mohamed Salah scored to put Liverpool ahead in the second half and it looked like three points were in the bag for the Reds.

However, Tarkowski came up with a great goal right at the end of the game, and home fans had the time of their lives at Goodison Park.

After the game, Elliott, who was an unused substitute, was asked if he could feel the noise from the Everton fans. The Liverpool star said no and then suggested that it was the Reds supporters who were creating the atmosphere.

He said on TNT Sports: “This game feels like a loss but I think because of everything that happened, I feel like we need to look at the bigger picture. It’s a point on the board at a tough ground. Circumstances as well with it being the last Merseyside derby here.”

When the reporter asked Elliott if he felt the crowd, he replied: “Not really, no!”

Then, the reporter asked: “Did you not feel the roar?”

Elliot said: “Yeah, (from) the Liverpool fans.”

The final Merseyside Derby record at Goodison Park

Everton’s home ground creates an atmosphere that very few stadiums in England can replicate.

Arne Slot was even told that Goodison Park is like Anfield, and despite Elliott’s subtle dig, you can’t deny the noise created by the home fans.

The game ended in a draw on Wednesday night and the overall record in derbies between the two clubs at Goodison Park is even as well.

The draw at Goodison Park pushes Everton 10 points above the relegation zone, while Liverpool extended their lead at the top of the table to seven points.

Both sides are in a good place now to achieve their respective targets, but it has to be said that the Toffees finished the game as the happier side.

It remains to be seen now if the last-minute equaliser combined with red cards to Arne Slot and Curtis Jones will have an impact on Liverpool’s upcoming results.
