Liverpool star Andy Robertson says he would ‘pay good money’ when discussing Brazilian
Liverpool star Andy Robertson has told supporters on Instagram during a Q&A session that he would “pay good money” to have the quality of Brazilian left-back Roberto Carlos.
Robertson, 26, has starred since joining Liverpool and is now considered one of the best left-sided defenders in world football. Indeed, the Scotland captain has clocked up 119 appearances for the Reds, and has even scored three goals.
He is one of the first names on the team sheet under Jurgen Klopp and continues to be engaged in an assist competition with right-back Trent Alexander-Arnold. He has a ratio better than one assist every five games – with 25 to his name.
Asked who the best ever left-back is, Robertson responded by naming Brazil legend Carlos – posting a video of the ex-Real Madrid star’s thunderbolt against France in 1997, and claiming he would “pay good money” to have such quality.
Where Robertson differs from Carlos is his lack of goals. The former Hull and Dundee United ace has only scored three Liverpool goals, while Carlos netted a huge 102 professional goals at club level – including 67 for Real Madrid.
However, Robertson has netted twice this season against Aston Villa and RB Salzburg. Whether he will be taking free-kicks and penalties for Liverpool going forward, though, is unlikely.
