Liverpool should look at surprise Xherdan Shaqiri start v Crystal Palace

Liverpool travel to Crystal Palace on Saturday 23 November when domestic football returns after the current international break.

Reds manager Jurgen Klopp has plenty of time to set out his plans, but he may have to make do without one of his key players Mohamed Salah.

The 27-year-old attacker scored in the win over Manchester City at the weekend, but was forced off with an ankle problem late on and he’s also had to withdraw from the Egypt squad.

, the right-winger has been given an extended time off and it’s unclear on how long he will be absent for.

The report explains that he is a “doubt” for the Premier League clash against Palace at Selhurst Park.

Salah has nine goals and five assists in 17 games across all competitions this season, which is why he will leave a big gap in the team.

One solution is to bring in Divock Origi and reorganise the forward line, but Klopp should consider another option.

Xherdan Shaqiri has become a forgotten man at Anfield this season, as he’s been overlooked for a spot in the team and also had an injury problem recently.

The Swiss winger has played just four games so far this campaign and is yet to start a single one.

Liverpool confirmed () that he’s expected to be back fit after the international break and has been given time to heal from a calf problem.

He is the most natural replacement for Salah in the squad and he should receive a major boost by being selected against Palace.

Shaqiri needs to see he’s still in the picture at Liverpool and an hour runout where he will have a point to prove could be a masterstroke.
