Liverpool round-up: Real Madrid’s James Rodriguez could join; Lucas Leiva agrees summer departure; improvements demanded of Shevi Ojo

The  say that Liverpool could launch a sensational move to bring Real Madrid playmaker James Rodriguez to Anfield. The Colombian has found himself on the periphery this season under Zinedine Zidane and could depart in search of first team football, but will only move to Merseyside if the club can qualify for Champions League football.

The former Monaco midfielder would not come cheap as Real Madrid would be reluctant to make a loss on the man they signed after his outstanding displays for his country at the 2014 World Cup in Brazil, so he may be the star signing for the Reds should they look to bring him in.

Another man who could be moving on is Lucas Leiva, at least that is the case according to Turkish outlet . They report that a £2.2 million deal has been agreed to take him to Galatasaray in the summer with the Brazilian ready to put an end to a decade long stay in England.

Signed by Rafa Benitez in 2007, the holding midfielder has mostly figured as cover in central defence this season after Jurgen Klopp insisted that he did not move on last summer due to concerns over the lack of depth in midfield and defence.

Another man who has found himself on the fringes of the first team are Sheyi Ojo, who has only featured in the FA Cup since returning from a back injury in December, and he revealed that Klopp has asked him to make improvements to be considered as he told the :

“He mentioned a couple of things that I’ve taken on board. Ever since then, in training and the U23 games I’ve played in, I’ve tried to showcase what he wants from me. I feel like I’ve done well and listened to what the manager’s said, and hopefully in the near future I can get another chance, another opportunity. But until then I’ll keep working hard.”

The left winger broke into the side in the second half of last season after a loan spell at Championship side Wolves but was unfortunate to pick up a serious back injury in pre-season which ruled him out until the Christmas period.
