Liverpool round-up: Jurgen Klopp could retire at Anfield; Lucas discusses future; Atletico’s Theo Hernandez wants move

Jurgen Klopp has hinted that he could retire when he leaves Liverpool after  and the  reported on an interview with  in which Klopp said:

“I will not have been in charge of 10 different clubs once my managerial career is over. There is a not insignificant chance I will have coached three clubs. It is always quite easy for me to fully commit to what I am doing because they are often long-term projects.

“If I fulfill my contract with Liverpool, then there is a good chance I will have won something here. I could be in an uncomfortable situation if we do not win anything. People expect Liverpool to win trophies.”

The 49-year-old has previously been in charge of Mainz and Borussia Dortmund in Germany before trying his skills on Merseyside, but has frequently spoken of his desire not to continue in management for a prolonged period.

Another man nearing retirement is midfielder Lucas Leiva, but the Brazilian is not ready to hang up his boots just yet and could put an end to a ten year spell at the club if he leaves in the summer. The  quote him as revealing that his future is still unclear, saying:

“I don’t really know what will happen. I just need to focus on the last five games. The last few games I’ve played I feel very good. I’ve played centre-back and midfield, so I give some options to the manager and when he needs me, I always try to deliver.

“Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn’t, but that happens with everyone. There’s no doubt about my commitment to Liverpool, I just need to wait until the end of the season, work hard and make a decision together with the club.”

The midfielder, who can also play in defence, is currently enjoying his longest spell in the team with injuries causing problems for the Reds, but the former Gremio man has shown his importance with some solid and impressive displays in a holding midfield role.

Another man who could be on the move is reported target Theo Hernandez, say Spanish radio station . The left-back is currently on loan on Alaves but is said to be frustrated with parent club Atlético Madrid and could force a move away this summer when his loan comes to an end.

The 19-year-old has impressed for his loan club and attracted attention from a host of European giants but is unlikely to force Diego Simeone to drop Filipe Luis as the first choice on the left side of defence, which may mean that a summer move for the Frenchman could be achievable for Liverpool.
