Liverpool round-up: Crystal Palace’s Steve Mandanda wanted; new contract for Dejan Lovren; Mamadou Sakho valued at £30million

In a bizarre news story, French outlet  claim that Liverpool are keeping tabs on 32-year-old Crystal Palace goalkeeper Steve Mandanda as a potential option for the squad next season. It seems likely that such a move could hint that an exit for either Simon Mignolet or Loris Karius could be possible.

The former Marseille ‘keeper has made just nine Premier League appearances this season, finding himself behind Wayne Hennessey in the pecking order at Selhurst Park, but has failed to keep a clean sheet. That said, he could represent an experienced option as back-up for the Reds.

One man who seems set to be going nowhere is defender Dejan Lovren, according to the . The Croatian returned from injury to start in the Merseyside derby at the weekend, being on the receiving end of a nasty tackle from Ross Barkley, and expects to sign a new contract before the end of the season.

Talks are already underway over a potential agreement which would keep him at the club beyond the summer of 2019, when his existing deal expires, which he signed in 2014 when he moved from Southampton to the northwest. Now a key part of the Liverpool defence, it comes as a huge boost for the club.

Crystal Palace have been in touch with the club regarding loanee Mamadou Sakho though, as the  state that they have enquired as to the possibility of making his transfer permanent in the summer after several commanding performances have helped the Eagles turn their season around.

The reports indicate that Liverpool have informed the struggling Premier League side that they will have to stump up £30 million if they do wish to make the move permanent given that there is no clause in the loan agreement, with Southampton and Napoli also thought to be interested.
