Liverpool reportedly set to sell midfielder for just £3m, and they are making a mistake

that Liverpool are to sell midfielder Ovie Ejaria this summer for a cut-price figure of just £3million, and Championship side Brentford are already interested – but are the Reds making a mistake?

Ejaria, 21, played out a somewhat intriguing 2018-19 campaign. He firstly joined Rangers under Steven Gerrard, and scored two goals in 28 league and cup outings for the Scottish giants.

But it is believed the pressure got to Ejaria midway through his season-long loan, and the deal was terminated. He then joined English Championship side Reading, where impressed – but in glimpses.

Now, the England Under-21 international has returned to Anfield but has no chance of breaking into Jurgen Klopp’s first team. It is clear that Liverpool are willing to sell the playmaker, but want just £3million for his services.

Ejaria has struggled over the last couple of seasons. But he is still only 21 years of age – so are Liverpool making a mistake by writing him off this early, for a bargain fee of just £3million?

Breaking through the ranks at Liverpool, Ejaria’s neat footwork and skill from the middle of the park impressed many. It saw him make eight senior appearances for the Reds.

But that early potential has subsided and instead the midfielder has gone sideways, rather than developing. Only glimpses of quality have been shown on loan, where he has been expected to shine.

The chances of Ejaria reigniting his early potential are slimming by the day, with it clear that he is not in Klopp’s plans. Another loan could see him reach such potential, but previous loans have seen him fail.

However, Liverpool are making a mistake. Ejaria is still very young and he should be sent on loan again, rather than being sold for a knockdown fee of £3million. Such a small fee could come back to haunt the Reds in years to come.
