Liverpool reportedly set to reject Crystal Palace bid for Simon Mignolet
Liverpool will not sell Belgian international Simon Mignolet to Crystal Palace,
They that the Reds expect the man who earns £60,000-a-week () to remain at Anfield amid interest from Selhurst Park.
The says that Michael Edwards will not name a price for Mignolet, and will let the goalkeeper have a great deal of autonomy over who he joins.
There are parallels between Mignolet’s situation and that of Lucas Leiva back in 2017, where the Reds waited for an offer in that enthused the player, and went for it despite it not being the most lucrative.
Mignolet has had a tough time at Anfield but his professionalism and attitude has earned him a farewell on his own terms.
Palace have a host of goalkeepers so Mignolet could perhaps be forgiven for not being particularly enthused about joining them if he is unsure about whether he’ll be their first choice.
Another question he needs to ask himself is whether he wants to be a first-choice stopper in mid-table of the Premier League or if he’s content to be a backup for a side challenging for the biggest honours.
He’s over 30 now, and perhaps may be content to wind his career down if he doesn’t get a fresh offer from elsewhere.
