Liverpool instantly reject late bid for ‘world class’ player ahead of transfer deadline day
Liverpool have finalised the signing of Federico Chiesa but have snubbed the chance to cash in one of Arne Slot’s squad players.
The Reds were the only Premier League side not to have signed a player in this summer transfer window just a week ago.
Fast forward to this Thursday evening and Liverpool suddenly have two deals signed, sealed and delivered.
The first deal saw goalkeeper Giorgi Mamardashvili join Liverpool from Valencia before being loaned back to the Spanish club.
Liverpool have now added a player who can make an impact right now with Federico Chiesa arriving at Anfield from Juventus.
The Reds may even have one more deal in mind with Mexican winger Cesar Huerta potentially signing before being loaned out.

Caoimhin Kelleher transfer latest
Liverpool may yet move some players out ahead of Friday’s transfer deadline.
Stefan Bajcetic is joining Red Bull Salzburg on loan as La Liga giants Barcelona miss out on a surprise move.
Bajcetic needs games and a loan move certainly makes sense, but goalkeeper Caoimhin Kelleher may wish for a permanent exit.
The Irish stopper is stuck behind Alisson at Liverpool and has now seen the Reds sign another goalkeeper for the future in Mamardashvili.
The Times’ Paul Joyce now claim that Nottingham Forest have made a bid for Kelleher – but Liverpool have rejected their offer.
Joyce claims that Forest’s bid was ‘well below’ Liverpool’s valuation, but the Reds are not looking to sell Kelleher before the deadline anyway.
Forest may well come back but unless their bid is much, much higher, Liverpool just don’t seem tempted to cash in.
Timing may not be right for Liverpool
Forest just seem to love signing goalkeepers.
Even with Carlos Miguel now on board to compete with Matz Sels, they remain keen on landing Kelleher too.
Kelleher himself may relish an opportunity to become Forest’s first-choice goalkeeper but this move just doesn’t add up for Liverpool.
Yes, Mamardashvili has been signed, but he doesn’t arrive at Anfield for another year.
If Liverpool were to sell Kelleher now, they would need to sign a replacement with just 24 hours of the window to go.
That signing would effectively become third choice come the end of the season, presenting Liverpool with a tough negotiating point with time running.
Kelleher moving on in 2025 seems likely but Liverpool are right to stand their ground and refuse a late sale for the stopper hailed as ‘world class’ by Virgil van Dijk.
