Liverpool: PSG star linked; Lucas exit explained; Henderson talks title hopes

Las Palmas president Miguel Angel Ramirez has claimed that Liverpool are partly responsible for scuppering a loan move for Paris Saint-Germain flop Jese Rodriguez as he told :

“Jese Rodriguez is a great footballer. He wants to come to Las Palmas, but he is owned by PSG and earns a salary that is of his level – and that is very high. Liverpool, Milan and Roma want Jese and are ready to pay what he earns. We cannot afford that salary.”

The forward moved to PSG for £21 million from Real Madrid in the summer but has so far made just two starts for the Ligue Une club and may now seek an exit, on loan or permanently.

The report that Jurgen Klopp has decided to allow Lucas Leiva depart after nine years on Merseyside to join Inter Milan on loan until the end of the season. They claim that the reasoning behind the decision lies in the return to fitness of Joe Gomez to provide cover in central defence.

Gomez has been out for over a year but has now featured for the under 23s a number of times and represents an option who may move ahead of Lucas, who has just three Premier League starts to his name so far this season.

Jordan Henderson has revealed that he is confident that this Liverpool side can be successful under the management of Jurgen Klopp in the coming years as he :

“The players we have got. The manager we have got. Everything is set for us to go and achieve great things but it is down to us to make sure it happens.”

Henderson was also questioned on what comparisons could be made with the team that he formed part of in the 2013/14 season and responded:

“A different group of players, totally, really…. Luis [Suárez] would get the headlines and rightly so when he was here, Stevie [Gerrard] also, but I still feel we have got big players in this team. And we are a really close group. We have some unbelievable players, talented players, who can change a game in seconds. Good players – and we’ve also got good people.”

Now, the challenge for Henderson and his teammates is to live up to that in the second half of the season.
