Liverpool now keen to sign ‘world class’ player after Manchester United abandon interest
Liverpool are the only Premier League side yet to make a signing this summer – but a number of players could soon arrive at Anfield.
On Tuesday, it was revealed that Liverpool are close to signing Giorgi Mamardashvili from Valencia – who will then be loaned out until Alisson Becker is ready to depart Anfield.
Now – however – Liverpool are showing a desire to sign an outfield player as well as Giorgi Mamardashvili…
Liverpool want Adrien Rabiot
A story from now states that Liverpool are considering a move to sign Adrien Rabiot – who is available on a free transfer after leaving Juventus.
The French news outlet reveal that Manchester United have also been monitoring the France international during his period of free agency – but have now decided to pursue other options.
By the looks of it, Manuel Ugarte will be heading to Manchester United instead after talks with PSG advanced.

L’Equipe believe Rabiot – who has been called “world class” – is keen to find a new club and resume his successful playing career, which has seen him win five Ligue 1 titles and also the Serie A title, among many more trophies.
While Liverpool only need to negotiate with the 29-year-old himself in this instance, rather than agreeing a fee with any club, the Reds do face competition from Inter Milan and Bayern Munich, who are understandably monitoring a player who is arguably the most attractive free agent on the market right now.
France international would solve problem for Arne Slot
While Martin Zubimendi was Liverpool’s first choice to slot into that No.6 role in midfield, before opting to stay with Real Sociedad, Rabiot certainly wouldn’t be a bad alternative.
The man from Saint-Maurice has made appearances in central midfield throughout his career, oozing enough quality to win 48 caps for France, while also holding his own for many years at two European giants in PSG and Juventus.

Furthermore, Zinedine Zidane has even called Rabiot an “exceptional” footballer, which speaks volumes given the Real Madrid legend’s stature in the game.
Be sure to keep an eye on this situation, as Liverpool could turn to the free agent to provide competition for Wataru Endo.
