Liverpool now believe they’ve found the ‘perfect’ signing for Arne Slot this summer – journalist
Liverpool’s search for a new midfielder is ongoing as the Reds look to bolster Arne Slot’s squad ahead of the new season.
Alan Varela has been linked with a move to Liverpool, but now, another target has emerged.
Indeed, the Reds are very keen on signing Martin Zubimendi from Real Sociedad.
Liverpool are set to begin talks to sign Zubimendi in the near future, and this is apparently a player the Reds are very excited about behind the scenes.
According to David Lynch, speaking on his YouTube channel, Liverpool actually think Zubimendi will be the perfect midfielder for Arne Slot’s system.
Martin Zubimendi will be perfect for Arne Slot
Lynch shared what he knows about how Liverpool view the Spaniard.
“Real Sociedad are his boyhood team. He came up through their academy, so he has a lot of affection for that club,” Lynch said.
“Tearing him away from there is going to be tricky, but I think Liverpool will push, that’s very much my understanding.
“They do want the player, they’ve identified him as the perfect player to come in and play that holding midfield role in Arne Slot’s system. So they are going to do everything they can to convince the player.”
Zubimendi will be brilliant for Liverpool
Liverpool believe that Zubimendi will be perfect for Slot, and they’re not too far wrong.
Slot has often done fantastic work with technical midfield players such as Teun Koopmeiners and Orkan Korkcu, and Zubimendi is very much cut from the same cloth.
Incredible on the ball with a remarkable passing range, Zubimendi could well be Liverpool’s new key player in that midfield.
It should be noted that Zubimendi does lack a bit of physicality in the middle of the park, but with Slot looking to play a more possession-based style, that may not be too big of an issue.
