Report: Liverpool make surprise enquiry for Cardiff City star Neil Etheridge
Champions League winners Liverpool have made an enquiry for Cardiff City goalkeeper Neil Etheridge,
a formal enquiry at this stage, rather than an official approach.
Etheridge was in sensational form for the Bluebirds last season and his efforts very nearly kept Neil Warnock’s men in the Premier League.
Following relegation, however, it seems certain that the Welsh outfit will be forced into selling the man who kept 10 clean sheets last season.

interest from Aston Villa in the goalkeeper. Owner Vincent Tan is keen to recoup in excess of £10 million for one of the club’s prized assets.
TBR Verdict
Liverpool’s interest in Etheridge does perhaps come as a surprise.
Simon Mignolet and Loris Karius are expected to leave the club permanently this summer; leaving Alisson Becker as the club’s only senior stopper.
The 29-year-old would be back up, but Etheridge might find it hard to turn the club down.

He would relish the chance to learn from someone of Alisson’s ilk and a concrete offer could tempt him into turning down Villa’s advances.
The Philippines international kept 10 shutouts last season and as a result, he is a capable pair of hands to back up the club’s primary custodian.
, Etheridge is on £20k-a-week at Cardiff and a move to Liverpool would probably see that increase significantly.
