Jurgen Klopp praises Liverpool duo Sadio Mane and Naby Keita

Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp has heaped praise on impressive duo Sadio Mane and Naby Keita after securing a place in the last 16 of the Champions League

The duo both used to play for Red Bull Salzburg and were both handed the chance to start against their former club last night.

Klopp’s team ran out comfortable 2-0 winners in the end and ensured progression to the knockout stages.

Keita opened the scoring against his former club and both he and Mane drew praise from the boss.

“Clearly, you educate great players here in Salzburg. I think both played very well. In the beginning, we used Naby a little bit on the wing and then we changed our system from 4-3-3 to 4-4-1-1 and used him in the No.10 position and he played really great. Both of them played great, fantastic.”

Liverpool finished top of Group E and will now face one of the group runners-up in the next round.

Both Mane and Keita spent time in Salzburg earlier in their careers, excelling during their time at the club.

Keita made 59 appearances for the club before moving to RB Leipzig in 2016, ahead of his move to Liverpool two years later.

The £48 million man is still trying to prove himself at Liverpool and two goals in his last two games will certainly help.

Klopp clearly values his efforts and both he and Mane were star performers during last night’s victory.
