Liverpool should forget reported target and put faith in Rhian Brewster

Liverpool are busy preparing for a Champions League final with Tottenham which takes place in Madrid a week on Saturday.

The Reds will go into the final looking to end a sizeable wait since their last piece of silverware. For Jurgen Klopp, he will be hoping it is third time lucky as far as the Champions League is concerned.

Shortly after the final attention will soon turn towards next season. Whilst the Liverpool squad boasts some real quality, the boss will probably still look to strengthen in certain areas.

One man who has been linked with a move to Anfield is Max Kruse. The German is leaving Werder Bremen this summer and have linked Klopp with a deal for the 31-year-old.

Given his age, Kruse would only represent a short-term fix. A capable replacement for Daniel Sturridge no doubt, but Klopp would perhaps be better off utilising his own youth ranks.

Rhian Brewster has recently returned from a long-term injury absence, making the bench for the 4-0 win over Barcelona earlier this month.

Kruse has 12 goals and 14 assists this season so would clearly represent a decent addition. However, Liverpool fans love to see players the club has nurtured make an impact on the first-team.

Brewster needs chances to show what he can do and Klopp must be careful that if he does sign Kruse it doesn’t have an impact on the amount of time the Liverpool prospect spends on the pitch.
